안녕하세요.
한국에서 4년째 직장생활을 하며 거주하고 있는 시민권자 입니다.

이번에 메디케어 문제 때문에 12월 미국에 들어갑니다. 엘에이 도착해서 메디케어 관련 일보고 ID CARD 신청하려고 인터넷 검색을 해보니 ID가 REAL ID로 대체 되었더라구요 . DMV에서 관련 서류들을 검색해보니 다른건 문제가 없는데 미국에 거주하고 있다는 증명서류(예: 유틸리티 빌) 2개가 필요하다고 하는데 미국을 정리하고 한국에 사는 저로서는 이걸 증명할 방법이 없네요. 인터넷 검색을 해도 관련내용이 없고 어떻게야 할지 고민입니다 . 향후 일땜에 미국내 관공사도 가야하고 미국내 비행기도 타야하는데 방법이 없나 고민하다 이렇게 글을 올립니다.

Do I have to get a REAL ID ?

"No. A REAL ID driver’s license or identification card is optional."

REAL ID 운전면허증 또는 신분증은 선택 사항입니다.

국내 여행 시 REAL ID가 있는 경우
미국 여권을 보여줄 필요가 없으며
기본적으로 국내 여행에 편리함을 제공하며

REAL ID를 원하지 않으면
여권이나 기타 연방에서 인정하는 신분증을 사용할 수 있습니다.

연방 혜택 (Veterans Affairs, Social Security Administration;

메디케어, 사회보장연금, etc.)을

신청하거나 수령함에 "REAL ID"가 필요하지 않습니다.

- State-Issued Drivers License or State-Issued ID

- U.S. passport

- U.S. passport card

- Permanent resident card

- U.S. Citizenship

- Foreign government-issued passport

[Beginning May 7, 2025,
the federal government will require your driver license or ID card
to be REAL ID compliant if you ***wish*** to use it as identification
to board a domestic flight or to enter military bases and most federal facilities.

Under the REAL ID Act,
the California DMV must meet requirements
set by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
for its driver licenses and identification cards
to be accepted for ***federal purposes.***

You can still use your ***standard driver's license*** for in-state driving,
but you will need an alternative form of ID (미국 여권 등)
to board domestic flights or access federal facilities *after May 7, 2025.]
