Q. G-card & citizenship

Hi,

I have recently been married and just received a g-card last October, 2008.
I heard that INS re-confirm the G-card in 2 years.

Before 2 years into marriage let's say, if the marriage fails and one gets divoced, what happens to my G-card status and citizenship application situation?

Before I was married, my legal status was out-of-status.

Please advice.

AFTER DIVORCE GETS FINAL, YOU SHOULD FILE A PETITION TO REMOVE THE CONDITION ON YOUR GREEN CARD BEFORE YOUR CARD EXPIRES. YOU MUST PROVE YOUR MARRIAGE WAS BONA FIDE.

it all depends on the situation. for instance, after 2 years is up, you must go in with your spouse to prove that the marriage wasn't fake. however. if you become a victim of domestic violence, then the ins will still give you the g card.( not 100% of the time.)

만일 영주권을 결혼에 의해서 취득하신후 2년내에 이혼을 하신다면 가장 큰 확률은 영주권을 박탈당할수 있는 경우일 겁니다. 왜냐하면 이민국에서 이 2년의 기간을 두는것은 결혼관련 영주권과 관련된 사기가 워낙 많기 떄문입니다. 현재 이 기간을 2년에서 그이상 즉 5년까지로 올리자는 안도 의논이 될수있다고 신문에서 읽은 기억이 있습니다. 다만 가정폭력에 의한 경우는 구제는 될수 있다고 합니다.
