미국 여권 (US passport) 는 미 연방정부 (국무성과 국토 안보국등) 가 인정하는 미국 시민임을 증명하는 문서 입니다. 공무원이나 어느 기관에의 취직 절차에서도 미국 여권으로 미국 시민임을 증명 받을수 있으며 굳이 Certificate of Citizenship 을 요구하는 공무원은 무식의 소치 입니다. 경찰이나 비밀취급인가가 요구 되는 기관들에서도 여권을 증명으로 제시하면 굳이 다른 증명을 요구하지 않습니다. 저는 물론 저의 가족중에도 그런 경험이 있습니다. 그것은 국무성과 USCIS 온라인 싸이트에서도 확인할수 있습니다.

"Your U.S. passport is your best proof of U.S. citizenship. Other official documents can be used, as described below."

따님이 2015년에 미국여권을 받았으므로, 그 당시에 증명으로 제출하였던 것과 동일한 서류들을 첨부하여 N-600 을 신청하면 되겠습니다.

No. You are not required to file a Form N-600 for a Certificate of Citizenship. The Certificate of Citizenship is an optional form. A validly issued U.S. passport generally serves as evidence of your U.S. citizenship during its period of validity unless that passport has been revoked by the Department of State. However, you may be required to submit your Certificate of Citizenship when attempting to apply for certain other benefits, including, but not limited to:

Social Security benefits
State issued ID including a Driver’s License or Learning Permit
Financial Aid
Employment
Passport Renewal
