Mortgage loan modification (부채조정) can be both difficult or easy, depending on your family's financial conditions and lender. If you can easily prove your income, and the income has reduced due to the current economic downturn, and your income is not too much or not too little or your monthky payment jumped, you can get a good deal regarding your mortgage modification from your lender or loan servicing company.

However, if your income can not be easily proved such as self-employed, or your reported income (tax return) is far way small, or no income is available due to layoff and your lender is a kind of strict subprime lender, it is very hard or not possible for you to modify your mortgage loan favourably.

That is why many borrowers fail to go through the loan mod and feel frustrated and give up it in the middle.
