sentenced to 27 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release의 정확한 의미를 알고 싶습니다. 징역 27개월을 복역해야 하는 것인지, 아니면 우리나라의 경우처럼 27개월 징역과 집행유예 3년을 의미하는지(즉 바로 석방을 의미하는지)요?

징역 27개월을 복역한 후에 보호관찰 3년도 해야 한다는 뜻입니다. 집행유예는 아닙니다. 집행유예는 suspended a sentence 라고 나옵니다.

Supervised Release Program
The Supervised Release Program supervises defendants in the community while awaiting trial in the Fairfax County Court system. Compliance with community supervision improves the likelihood of court attendance and reduces risk to the community while saving tax-payers the cost of incarceration.

Services Include:

Community supervision of defendants bonded to pretrial supervision until adjudication.
Alcohol and Drug testing as well as referrals to treatment.
Monitoring of any special conditions to bond.
Written progress reports to court on defendant compliance with program.
