Thank you for selecting The Riffe Law Firm P.L.L.C. to represent you
concerning the above-referenced vehicle, which was purchased in November 2019.
One of the priorities in undertaking this representation is to establish personal
relationships between you and your attorney. In that regard, I believe that a written
explanation and understanding of our fee determination and billing and other policies
at the outset will minimize misunderstandings in the future. Accordingly I am
writing this letter to outline these policies for you.
Our firm has agreed to undertake representation on a contingency fee contingency fee contingency fee basis,
which means our attorneys’ fees and costs are recovered only if we are successful. Our
minimum fee is $3,500.00. The gross attorney fee bill is a function of the hourly rate
and the amount of time spent on the matter. My billing rate is currently $250 per
hour, and billing occurs in increments of one tenth of an hour. Should there be no Should there be no

“Costs” are the out-of-pocket expenses incurred and advanced in connection

court documents, courier or messenger services, court reporting, investigations,
travel expenses, etc. In addition, there will be an office cost of $75.00, which covers
all long-distance telephone calls, facsimiles, photocopies, postage, etc.
I will use my best efforts in representing you, but I cannot assure that I will
achieve a favorable outcome for you. Both you and our firm will have the right to
terminate this representation upon written notification to the other. If, following
termination, you subsequently recover money from the defendant as a result of my
efforts in this matter (including settling the case without my consent) you would be
required to pay the attorneys’ fees and costs that have been advanced.
The communications between you and our firms are considered privileged.
Please make every effort to maintain the confidentiality of our communications.
On November 7, 1989, the Texas Supreme Court adopted the Texas Lawyer’s
Creed and Mandate for Professionalism. Paragraph II, subparagraph 1 of the Creed
requires us to advise you its contents when we undertake representation. A copy of
the Creed is enclosed. The Riffe Law Firm aspires to abide by the Creed.
If the terms set forth above are acceptable to you, please sign the letter in the
space provided and return it to me via fax or email.
I am pleased that you have selected us to represent you and I look forward to
working with you. Upon the receipt of a signed copy of this letter I will begin
investigating this claim and preparing the necessary documents. If you have any
