The IRS reminded taxpayers affected by the delay they can begin preparing their tax returns immediately because many software providers are ready now to accept these returns. You can go to the www.irs.gov website and use the search box for IRS to Start Processing Delayed Returns on Feb. 14; Most People Unaffected and Can File Now/OR Best bet, call the IRS and tell them what your situation is. You can go through the main line at 800-829-1040, and after some number pushing you can get a live person. They should ask some identifying information from you (Social security number, date of birth, and/or some information from your tax return) and they should be able to either direct you to a specific department or review your account with your mother.
