“한달 전 지인의 세금보고를 도와주었는데 싸인을 하지 않고 페이퍼로 보냈습니다.그런데 아직도 아무런 피드백도 없고 IRS 웹사이트가서 확인을 해도정보가 나오질 않아요.어떻게 해야 되죠? 다시 보내야 할까요, 기다려야 하나요?”-- You do not need any special certification to PREPARE tax returns and sign the returns as a paid preparer. However, you do need to either be a licensed attorney, CPA, or IRS EA in order to sign on behalf of the taxpayer (i.e. sign for the taxpayer on filing extension forms) or to represent the taxpayer before the IRS. Note also that you should ONLY sign the tax returns as the preparer if you were paid for preparing the return. If you are doing the returns for friends or family for free, you should not sign the return as the preparer. Ifyou prepare his/her return but did not charge him/her, you do not have to sign it. Contact the IRS by callin’ to confirm it was received. Call 1-800-829-1954 or go to irs.gov. If you are expecting a refund, the IRS has a website section called "Where's My Refund?" to check refund status, whether you opted for direct deposit or a mailed check. The website allows you to track the refund 72 hours after it acknowledged receipt of your e-filed return or three to four weeks after you mailed a paper return; if no refund is expected, call your regional office for your return's status.
