Fees will vary depending on the jurisdiction and amount of claim. Generally its $395 to answer. You can get information from the court website which is www.lasuperiorcourt.org.
Once you file an answer, you have to serve (mail out) a copy of the answer to the plaintiff with a proof of service. Plaintiff will then set the case for trial which generally happens in about one month. If you lose at trial, the plaintiff will cause the sheriff to go out to your place with a 5 days notice to move. This could happened in about 1 week up to 20 days or so. Nothing is certain in terms of time because it depends on how fast plaintiff moves and how fast the sheriff can get out there.
