A lease is a contract so regardless of your financial situation, you are legally responsible for the lease payment until the end of the lease even though you move out early. However, if the landlord, who has a duty to mitigate his damages (that is find another tenant), finds a replacement tenant, then you are only responsible for any unpaid rent until new tenant moves in. If there are no new tenant, you will be responsible for the entire term. If your finances are so bad, you may want to consider filing for bankruptcy, which may wipe out your legal debts, including lease payments owed to your landlord.
