The point of your question doesn't make any sense. First, if your friend is an illegal alien, it doesn't matter whether the case is felony or misdemeanor, he/she cannot live in the US and as such, is subject to deportation. It is quite possible that if he/she is still in jail, there is an ICE hold which means that after the case is over, he/she will be taken to ICE jail to be processed for deportation.
As far as the case getting reduced to a misdemeanor, it is possible.
